About Fiona Hollings - Advocate, Speaker, and Writer

Hi, I'm Fi.

I am autistic and in recovery from anorexia and other mental health challenges.

For a long time, my world felt small, structured by fear, patterns I didn’t understand, and a sense of disconnection from both myself and others. Over time, that has shifted, not into something perfect, but into something more honest, more aware, and more connected.

My work sits at the intersection of lived experience and professional practice. I have spent the past several years working across mental health services, research, and public platforms, contributing to conversations and changes around how care is designed and delivered.

A central focus of my work is the intersection of autism and eating disorders. This is an area that is still widely misunderstood, and one where many individuals fall through the gaps of existing systems. I care deeply about improving this, not just in theory, but in the realities of how services feel to access, navigate, and exist within.

Alongside this, I have been involved in service improvement work, research projects, and national conversations about mental health care. I have spoken publicly about my experiences, contributed to professional training, and worked with organisations to support more inclusive, compassionate approaches.

What matters most to me is that lived experience is not just heard, but meaningfully integrated. Not as a story added on, but as something that actively shapes understanding, practice, and change.

This space brings together different parts of that work. It is not a polished version of my story or my career, but a place where the reality of both can exist alongside each other.

I am still learning, unlearning, and finding my way, and this is part of that process too.
